It was not a nice day. The first few hints of spring had come over the city in the form of slightly above-freezing temperatures. With nearly a meter of snow on the ground, massive piles of slush began to form throughout the city.  The girl ran out of her house, slamming the door behind her. Running down the sidewalk, she glanced down at the pavement and scowled at the grey, salty slush covering...

There is a big strike going on at McGill right now. Its been about eight weeks since the whole things started. The union is MUNACA: the lowest-paid workers at McGill, whose jobs range from lab technicians to secretaries to library staff to general support workers. The administration is refusing to negotiate with the union and life is getting increasingly harder for folks who just want fair pay.  ...

Thirteen Observations made by Lemony Snicket while...
1. If you work hard, and become successful, it does not necessarily mean you are successful because you worked hard, just as if you are tall with long hair it doesn’t mean you would be a midget if you were bald. 2. “Fortune” is a word for having a lot of money and for having a lot of luck, but that does not mean the word has two definitions. 3. Money is like a child—rarely unaccompanied. When...

“Ow.” The girl absentmindedly bumped into the doorframe. She entered the pizza shop with her nose buried in a book, only half paying attention to where she was going. She glanced at the menu and decided on a small, cheese pizza. Plain, no toppings. Her eyes darted back down to the book she was reading and she waited for the woman in front of her to decide on an order.  “Ok, so...

Maybe one day I will open up an aquarium called Thalassic Park. It would be just like any other conservation research aquarium, except if you’re found abusing or annoying an animal you get thrown into the shark tank. It would save us money on food and provide an accountability system for that sort of thing. It probably wouldn’t work in the long run. I would probably end up getting...

I am pretty sure my next door neighbours are fucking in their kitchen. I also think I just heard someone open the fridge, which is a little confusing but at least it seems like they are having fun.

Elderberry Elixir
Now that October is here, it is time for colds and influenza to find their way into our bodies. I have heard amazing things about elderberries anti-cold/flu properties, so I decided to try making an elixir for this autumn.  Elder Mother Immune Elixir (recipe adapted from bearmedicineherbals.com) Ingredients 500ml (pint) sized mason jar (or any glass jar that seals well Fresh elderberries (I...
